Hidden Worlds - tours & courses

Our programme for 2013 and 2014 (provisional) has been finalised: updates and offers will always be posted on the BLOG and we can offer fully featured tours for private groups to Sicily and the Dolomites on request.

For details download our pdf here via the Images from the Edge blog

B&B - From spring 2013 we have been offering B&B for naturalists/photographers and walkers here at our home, Podere Montecucco. Prices are reasonable, we have good, inexpensive restaurants nearby but are very happy (being cooks ourselves) to prepare meals on request using local ingredients, often our own produce ... vegetables, sauces, jams, marmalades...bread and even liqueurs!

Exploring- then we can supply you with itineraries and ideas for walks and trips here and further afield in Italy. While you are here we can offer full day guided excursions. We work with you to provide exactly what you want.

Moving on... we can also pass you on to friends throughout Italy who run B&B and agriturismos who care about their land, its culture and the environment and not charge you the earth!

And do please remember, we can create trips tailored to your specific needs virtually anywhere in Italy at highly competitive rates...try us.

You will also find SICILY (26th April - 3rd May 2014) and the DOLOMITES (26th June - 3rd July) on our pdf

Gargano (16th - 23rd April 2014) - a place we love to distraction with incredible flowers, orchids especially and, after 30 years of visits we feel we can offer you an unrivalled experience with flowers abundant in numbers and range of species. The orchid flora, in particular, is extraordinary with numerous endemics. If visiting independently you can also book us for a day or more - email: paulhd@paulharcourtdavies.com for details

NB If there is sufficient interest (a minimum of 3 people) we can offer a slightly later Gargano visit in mid May when some interesting orchids are in flower and the butterflies and other insects are particularly good... PHD has been down there each year at this time giving master classes to Italian professional photographers.

Sibillini (31st May - 7th June 2014) - a favourite, high mountains but not too high and a sense of space with superb flowers and the incomparable Piano Grande. This trip is spectacular for flowers and open mountain vistas. It is not a route march and we leave lots of time to take pictures, too.

DSC_8927
Central Italy (10th - 17th May 2014) - close-up and macro - our at home trips and courses where, throughout the year, we offer courses based around orchids, butterflies...fungi. But whenever you come you will have the chance to learn how to take the kind of pictures you never thought possible.

Prices...

We have worked hard to keep prices at 2013 levels given the current sterling/euro exchange rate and financial situation. We always stay in comfortable family-run places - for instance, one of them, the Hotel Elisa at Peschici, Gargano was where PHD stayed on a first visit in 1979: the small agriturismo in Castelluccio (Sibillini) trip we discovered just a few years ago and have been back regularly since.

All accommodation and meals (including wine and coffee) are included in the price.

Excluded are personal expenses, such as pre- or after dinner drinks, ice-creams etc. Our hotels will provide breakfast and, in the evenings, we will either eat in the hotel or sample the local restaurants. Lunches will, weather permitting, involve superb picnics prepared by Lois – no-one else can match them (OK, I am hopelessly prejudiced).

All transport is included we pick you up at the airport, deliver you back and provide all transfers and visits to locations during the trip.

NB Flights are NOT included - but we give you a recommended flight with arrival time. When clients choose to arrive a day or so before then we meet at the airport

All bookings are made through SUNVIL HOLIDAYS (many times winners of awards for their support of sustainable tourism) whose MD, Noel Josephides, is an old friend. This way you get the backing of AITO bonding (and ATOL if you also book flights through Sunvil)

NB We can take credit card bookings through them but regret we have to pass on the surcharge levied

For enquiries or a booking form with terms and conditions contact us. We can also send you a pdf on request.
