
Promontory Orchid (Ophrys promontorii) This orchid is referred to by some authorities as Ophrys promontorii, but is better regarded a member of a complex group of orchids related to Ophrys sphegodes and/ or Ophrys bertolonii (another example is Ophrys bertoloniiformis). It is visually distinctive with broad strap-like petals and a lip with limited pattern endemic to Gargano and a limited region of S. Italy.Nr Mt St Angelo, Gargano, Puglia, Italy
