Spring pasque flower (Pulsatilla vernalis) growing with alpine snowbells (Soldanella alpina). The are contemporaneous with crocus the white flowers of the another pasque flower, the sulphur pasque flower (Pulsatilla alpine ssp. apiifolia) appears close on their heels. Spring pasque flower (Pulsatilla verna) is a member of the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae) native to the mountain ranges of central and southern Europe and is found to 2700m.
