Praying Mantis (Mantis religiosa) gravid female devouring another gravid female - the batt;e was to the death when one became the protein source for the other. The dominant female managed to bit the part of the torax closest to the abdomen which seemed vulnerable to the powers pincer-like mandibles and was devouring the other alive. Eventuall he thorax and head of the victim were severed from the abdoment. Photographed in a garden at Podere Montecucco, Orvieto, Umbria, Italy. Sept 2020.
