Coralroot  (Corallorhiza trifida) - Wild Orchids 2020
Coralroot (Corallorhiza trifida) so called because of the shape of its rhizome and one of four species of European orchid considered to be predominantly saprophytic The others are Neottia nidus-avis, Epipogium aphyllum and Limodorum abortivum). It is a species of woodlands of pine and Spruce but is also found on dune land in Scotland in damper areas. The species is rare in the UK and has a circumboreal distribution in woodland mountain areas in in mainland Europe. Terminillo, Umbria Italy June 2021
